An Aloe Adventure:
An Aloe Adventure
I started distributing Forever Living Products just over four months ago, and in the name of client education, have been trying the range of aloe products that they offer. As an alternative to my usual fitness newsletter, please find following my findings:
Aloe Gelly (£10.59 for a 118mL tube)
With summer apparently around the corner and sunburn a possibility, now's the time to invest in some aloe gel. Aloe fixes sunburn. It's as simple as that. As a fair-skinned Australian, aloe has saved my sunburn from peeling on many occasions. It takes the sting out of any burn and facilitates healing – very handy for around the house.
This aloe may appear more expensive than using a plant or buying cheapy stuff from a health food shop, but it is the most-concentrated aloe gel I've ever used. According to one of my customers, it's also good for avoiding and treating stretch marks during pregnancy.
Aloe Ever-Shield Deodorant Stick (£5.26 and it lasts for ages!)
If you are worried about aluminium salts in your deodorant, try this one. It's mild formulation with aloe means that it is actually soothing, not stinging, to put on after shaving. As a 'sporty type', it is the only deodorant I use, and I find it very effective as well as non-staining. Even my husband Andy has some.
Forever Bright Toothgel (£4.96 for 130g tube)
I was rather shocked to find this toothpaste is bright green! To be honest this tooth gel did nothing for me (I like Colgate), but when I rang up my FLP sponsor and asked why on earth anyone would buy this, he told me that it brings great relief to individuals suffering mouth ulcers. So, if you have mouth ulcers, use this tooth gel and you may see them clear up.

Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo and Conditioning Rinse
(£12.21 for 296mL each)
As I am growing my hair, I'm very fussy about shampoo and conditioner. This stuff is as good as any salon products I've tried, and what's more the aloe seems to protect my hair and give it a nice shine. The mild scent is clean and fresh and also suitable for blokes.
Aloe Lips (£2.47 per lip balm)
Some people like lip balm, some don't. I have given some of this lip balm to friends, and they love it. Protecting the lips, it can also double up as a portable source of aloe.
Aloe Liquid Soap (£9.38 for a hefty 472mL container)
This is the ideal shaving soap. Andy swears by it and no longer gets the annoying nicks or shaving rashes of old. So I like it too!
The seventies style packaging is a giggle…
Aloe Sunscreen (£10.59 for a 118mL tube)
I am outdoors every day as part of my job. So to help prevent premature ageing of my skin, I use this sunscreen every morning. It doesn't smell or feel like sunscreen, but a nice quality moisturiser. And it's SPF30.
Aloe Moisturising Lotion (£10.59 for a 118mL tube)
This is a fabulous cream for anyone with dry skin. I started using this last winter and my dry skin cleared up overnight. Beats posh Decleor hands down. Wonderful stuff that I use as a night cream (it's a bit pricey to be an all-over lotion, but what a treat).
Aloe Propolis Crème (£12.96 for a 113g tube)
Whilst I use this as a hand cream, many folk find it alleviates skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema – it's something to do with the bee propolis in it…
Aloe Heat Lotion (£10.59 for a 118mL tube)
Had a hard workout and got stiff muscles? This is the stuff. It's doesn't smell too much like a men's locker room and has more heat than Deep Heat. It's also a nicer texture to apply. I like to see how much I dare to put on (a bit like a wasabi eating competition). Hot!
Aloe Vera Gel (£18 for 1 L)
I have been drinking aloe vera gel in the morning for a number of years now and find it to be very effective on a number of fronts. Firstly, it is excellent for digestive issues (some folk find it relieves IBS and gastric ulcers). On an everyday front, it is a good nutritional tonic for better health, containing vitamins, minerals and amino acids. I find that it boosts my immune system and I am less susceptible to colds. In fact, I haven't had a sick day for two years!
Be warned that the taste is an acquired one. My husband Andy thinks it tastes like Elastoplast and therefore will not let the stuff near him, however I don't mind it (a bit like cactus juice) as I know it's good for me. You can mix it with non-citrus juice to dilute the taste (cranberry is good).

Bits n' Peaches (£19.61 for 1 L)
For those who really can't stand the taste of aloe gel, but still want the nutritional benefit, you can buy it combined with peach. I quite like the taste of this one…
Forever Freedom (£24.58 for 1L)
This is a combination of aloe drinking gel, methylsulphonylmethane (MSM) and glucosamine which will help protect joints. This is also recommended for folk with arthritic and other joint issues.
So that's my research so far. Obviously there are many more products within the range, including make up, vitamins and supplements. In the meantime, I hope you feel more enlightened on what's available. You can read more on how aloe works on my website at www.tracygriffen.com/aloe.html
Please do email me if you would like to order any of the above products, and don't forget that all Forever Living Products come with a 60-day money back guarantee. If you live or work within central Edinburgh, I will deliver your order free of charge. Not bad eh?
